It was first reported by Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic, but Bubba Wallce – today – informed Richard Petty that he would be leaving the No. 43 team following the 2020 racing season.
Wallace has seen his best season, surrounded at the forefront of racial inequality issues in America, since he joined RPM three years ago.
He confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

RPM said it would be announcing their 2021 plans soon, however, there are a plethora of options for Wallace to go to.
Hendrick Motorsports still has to fill the seat of Jimmie Johnson after he retires from full-time competition at the end of the year.
Stewart-Haas Racing has been rumored to looking at filling a seat, whether it be Clint Bowyer calling it quits or something similar.
Although, and maybe this is the most likely option, someone has to fill the No. 42 at Chip Ganassi Racing. The same car left vacant from Kyle Larson after his sponsors largely dropped him, forcing the veteran to dirt.
Regardless of where he goes, Wallace will be a star. He’ll be the biggest name in the camp, and the eyes will be on him to see what he can do with a top tiered ride.
If it’s anything near as crazy as this year, it should be a good time.
