Each week, ARD ranks drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series based on our algorithm which includes qualifying, stages, and the race finish. Below we highlight the current top-five in rankings and share the full list.
1. William Byron Finishes Top-10 All Week
William Byron had a fantastic week at Daytona which lands him in first place to start off the season. Besides picking up the Daytona 500 victory, he finished in the top-ten in both stages, 8th in his duel, and qualified in 6th.
2. Alex Bowman Barely Runner-Up
Not only did Bowman miss out on the Daytona 500 win by inches, but he also tied with his teammate Byron in the rankings, only losing out by the one position on the racetrack. Third in the duel and stage one along with his runner-up place in the Great American Race has him off to a strong start.
3. Christopher Bell Shows Good Race Speed
Despite not qualifying well, Bell let the people of Daytona Beach know he had the speed, with a duel win and a third-place finish in the race, which included leading 22 laps during the event. This gives him a good start to 2024.
4. Chase Elliott Rebounds With Solid Weekend
Although a 14th-place finish isn’t a stellar result, a top-5 qualifying result along with second in the duel and the Stage 1 win propelled him into fourth in the rankings this week.
5. Erik Jones Leaves Florida With A Top-10
A 5th-place finish in the duel and 8th in the race was a strong result for Legacy Motor Club, which had their struggles last season. With another superspeedway next weekend, Jones looks to ride the momentum.
