The NASCAR Truck Series heads to Michigan this week and dirt track fans will recognize a big name missing from the World of Outlaws Sprint Car race in Pevely, Missouri.
David Gravel will be making his long awaited NASCAR Truck Series debut, on Friday, driving the No. 24 truck for GMS Racing.
GMS is an affiliate of the NASCAR Cup Series’ Hendrick Motorsports – which housed Jeff Gordon during the entirety of his career.
Gravel’s paint scheme for Friday actually mirrors Alex Bowman’s No. 88 Cup Series car.

Gravel, the 2019 Knoxville Nationals champion, signed on to GMS for a part-time deal during the off-season that was originally made for six races on the 23-event schedule.
The deal included the now-canceled Eldora Dirt Derby – the lone dirt race on the slate – that is usually held in July.
NASCAR has not yet released the remainder of its 2020 schedule, but plans on filling the 23-race schedule and while it is unclear as to when Gravel will race again after this, it assumes that he will be in the car a few more times before the end of the year.
Gravel has been wanting to give NASCAR a try and will get a decent opening ride here, to prove himself. He already got a bit of asphalt experience when he ran an ARCA car at Daytona for David Gilliland’s DGR-Crossley team, starting ninth and finishing 12th.
The NASCAR Truck Series lineup for Friday is not yet out either, but the race is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. CT on Fox Sports 1.
