Just one day after Buddy Kofoid upset the champ, the champ makes a statement.
Aaron Reutzel went around Lee Jacobs for the lead during the Ollie’s All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Sprint Speedweek Feature at Fremont on Sunday night, and he never looked back.
The defending series champion earned his 32nd career win with the tour and his fifth of the 2020 racing season, which is 13 races young.
Reutzel started third behind Paul McMahan and Jacobs at the beginning of the evening, and after two early caution flags would pass the No. 13 of McMahan to take over second place.
Once there, Reutzel would spend time battling with Jacobs – taking five or six laps to battle with the leader before making his final pass to the top spot with 19 laps to go.
Reutzel would later fend off McMahan for half a lap, but was ultimately given the break from it from a timely caution.
Kofoid, Saturday’s winner, raced up to the fourth position from 11th and was just looking at the back bumper of Jacobs as the checkered flag flew on Sunday.
The series returns to the track on Monday night when they visit Wayne County for the fourth Ohio Sprint Speedweek Event. As always it will be televised on FloRacing.
