AMA Supercross announced a majority of its 2021 schedule on Tuesday afternoon, announcing each of the locations of the first 12 rounds as well as the finale race.
It’s evident that COVID-19 restrictions are forcing the tour to adjust its scheduling strategies to a hybrid of its normal schedule and what we saw in the Salt Lake City ‘bubble’ last season.
Instead of traveling to a different city each week for its 17 races of the year, the tour is committed to scheduling just five cities to complete its first 12 races.
The season opens up on January 16 at Houston, two weeks after the usual opener date on the first Saturday of the year.
The tour will stay in Houston for the first three races, utilizing a Tuesday date during the stretch.
Following Houston, they’ll complete rounds four and five in Indianapolis before an 18-day off period.
Rounds six through eight will take place in Glendale in another three-race stop for the series, however, the date at Daytona International Speedway remains a single Saturday, taking place on March 6.
The series will run another three races in Arlington to complete Round 12, and also confirmed that it would end the year at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City Utah.
