It took a long night ahead of it, but Brandon Overton was able to get his first win of the year.
Despite the the fence nearly being torn off and a 50-lap feature, Overton was able to survive to take the win on Night 5 of the Winter Nationals.
Overton becomes the sixth different winner in the series over the first six nights of the year, joining Kyle Larson, Hudson O’Neal, Tyler Erb, Josh Richards, and Stormy Scott.
Overton had been on the podium three times so far throughout the week, finally putting his car in victory lane on Friday night. The win will extend his lead in the speedweeks points standings.
Devin Moran earned yet another top five finish this week. If fans are looking for a seventh different winner, he could certainly step himself up to the plate.
Defending champion Jimmy Owens finished outside the top 10 once more to continue a difficult start to the season.
The tour will continue the Winter Nationals swing on Saturday for a final night at East Bay before taking Sunday off and traveling to Bubba Raceway Park to start next week.
