Not only did Cory Eliason become the first driver in eight ASCoC races not named Kyle Larson to win, but the driver of the 26 car earned his first win in almost a year.
Eliason traded the lead back and forth with Kerry Madsen before eventually holding off Dominic Scelzi to complete his night.
It was his first Ollie’s All Star Circuit of Champions victory since he won last season at I-96 Speedway.
“(Huset’s Speedway) definitely reminds me of back home like Tulare and Chico,” Eliason said. “I was really kind of concerned that (Madsen) got out in front, I showed him the line and I was like, ‘Surely that’s it.'”
Nonetheless, Eliason was able to utilize the lapped traffic and two-groove surface to take the victory in the first race back at Huset’s since the track was sold to a new owner.
It got rave reviews from the drivers.
“This place is badass,” Eliason said. “I’ve only been here for a concert four or five years ago, but I’m happy that we’re back. This is an awesome facility and this is probably the best crowd I’ve seen this year.”
Scelzi finished in the runner-up spot, one short of the win he wanted that he promised would be paired with a taco truck at Knoxville in two weeks.
But, like always, the driver of the 41 was in good spirits, and he loved what Huset’s Speedway brought in his first trip to the facility.
“I’m telling you what,” Scelzi said. “I’ve raced sprint cars for nine years. This was the best surface I’ve ever been on and this was the most fun I’ve ever had. So to all 30,000 of you that are here, Huset’s Speedway is back and it’s badass and it’s here to stay.”
Larson wrecks out of Heat Race, DNF’s to break seven-win streak
The string of dominance for the No. 57 team came to an end on Sunday when Kyle Larson rode the cushion into the wall and flipped his car in the second heat race of the evening.
The crash came after Larson set the quick time for the night and looked to go to work in his heat behind Ian Madsen, Paige Polyak, and Dominic Scelzi.
Kyle Larson gets into the wall in the second heat race and destroys one of his No. 57 cars.
He's out of the car and OK, but a wicked accident here at Huset's.

The DNF broke a streak of seven straight ASCoC victories for Larson – a record in the tour’s history books.
There’s no word as to where Larson will look at going next weekend, but there’s no reason to think he’ll slow down off his pace. This should be a minor bump in the road for his team, which has been far and away the best in the nation in 2020.
The All Star Circuit of Champions will take a couple weeks off, returning to the track August 21 at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
