If there was anything left to prove in dirt track racing for Kyle Larson, he was going to prove it on Wednesday night.
By starting in the fourth row, jumping to the outside to secure third-place during the first turn of the feature, and lapping every car on the track that wasn’t in the top 11, he did just that.
Larson took the lead on lap five en route to a win during the Ollie’s All Star Circuit of Champions race at Bushcreek Motorsports Complex.
It was his fifth ASCoC victory of the season – which ties series points leader Aaron Reutzel – in what has been a historic stretch of racing by a dirt driver in the past 20 years.
Reutzel followed Larson through the field over the course of the 30-lap race, but saw battles on the way with Cory Eliason and Rico Abreu.
The limited amount of clean air he had gotten wasn’t enough to overcome the large lead that Larson had put on the 87 car.
Cale Conley only lost two points on Reutzel in the Ohio Speedweek points standings securing another high finish with the series. He started out with the lead, but it didn’t take long for Larson to find him.
Paul McMahan secured another decent run and sits right behind Conley in the points standings for the Ohio slate. If he has a race where he moves forward at the pace and improves his starting spot, we might have a strong race for the week’s title winner.
The 2020 Ohio Speedweek will continue on Thursday and throughout the Weekend on FloRacing. The All Stars will be visiting Muskingum County Speedway in Desden, Ohio next with the action scheduled to kick off at approximately 5:30 p.m. CT.
