The late models got the dirt warn in out west in last week’s Wild West Shootout, but now it’s the sprint cars’ turn.
A talented roster of drivers will set forth to get a bit of a season warmup in this week’s Wild Wing Shootout before kicking off their 2021 tours across the United States.
The best part of the whole deal is we’ll get to see a plethora of talent from different tours on the same track to start off the year.
Ten-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz and 3-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Tony Stewart will contend in the TSR entries.
Schatz went down to Arizona Speedway two weeks early, contending in the late model event in his own ride. It didn’t come with the success that Schatz is used to seeing, but there’s no doubt that the track experience will help out this weekend.
We’ll get to see him a lot this season against Roth Motorsports’ new driver, Aaron Reutzel.
Fans will get their first look at the defending Ollie’s All-Star Circuit of Champions winner that will take on the Outlaws tour full time this season.
They’ll see both of those two against Pennsylvania star Lance Dewease, who had his own highs and lows during the 2021 year.
Gio Scelzi – in a car that is usually a Knoxville regular – will be in Arizona with his brother Dominic, who’s trimming his racing schedule to work more in the family business. How cool would it be to see the fan favorite grab a win out there?
Rico Abreu and 2021 ASCoC favorite Cory Eliason are fresh off trips to the Chili Bowl over the past week, as well. Both of them hope to be big threats this weekend and to start the year off right.
The action kicks off on Friday with hot laps beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT and a $7,000-to-win check on the line. On the weekend, though it heats up. Saturday and Sunday’s shows will kick off at 4:00 p.m. as drivers battle for $10,000. All of the action can be seen on FloRacing.
