Scott McLuaghlin was leading the NTT IndyCar Series field around the oval at Texas Motor Speedway as the white flag flew on Sunday, but it was Josef Newgarden sneaking up at the end to capture the win over his Team Penske teammate.
Thanks to lapped traffic and adequately worn tires, McLaughlin was held up just enough and it opened up the door for the two-time series champion in Newgarden to capture his first career win.

Marcus Ericsson completed the podium and Jimmie Johnson earned a career-best, sixth-place finish in his oval debut.
IndyCar’s next race will be at the Streets of Long Beach on April 10. It can be seen on NBC with a scheduled start time of 2:00 p.m. CT.
