Tyler Courtney to make first late model start at Eldora

Tuesday night marks the postponed, updated day for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America season opener at Eldora, but maybe more notably marks the first time sprint car star Tyler Courtney will race the track in a late model.

Courtney, the 2021 ASCoC series champion and Kings Royal winner at the track, mentioned his desire to try racing a late model when Eldora Speedway announced the return of the Eldora Million late last year.

The deal has since came together for the Indianapolis native, who will start his preparation for that race on Tuesday.

Courtney will drive a Longhorn Chassis car owned by Austin Cindric’s crew chief, Jeremy Mullins.

The race is the only planned event Courtney has to get him ready for the race later this summer, but it’s no secret that the former non-wing star is quick to adapting.

A plethora of late model talents are expected to be in the race, including Kyle Larson and Brandon Sheppard – who announced Tuesday that he would be switching from the World of Outlaws tour to the Lucas Oil series.

Tuesday’s race will be the first of two consecutive days of racing for the midweek-based series. The FloRacing broadcast is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.
