KCP Racing announced Tuesday that the team and driver Giovanni Scelzi will not be racing at this week’s Bristol Bash.
In a statement posted on the team’s social media accounts, the reason comes with issues to Scelzi’s shoulder:
UPDATE:
With guidance from an orthopedic surgeon and still being unsure of what caused Gio’s shoulder issues last Saturday, we are not going to be racing Bristol this weekend to give him some time to heal. We are still planning on racing Eldora May 6th and 7th.— KCP Racing (@KcpRacing) April 26, 2022
During the race weekend in Pennsylvania, Scelzi’s shoulder popped out of socket.
This did not happen during a race, as the young driver posted:
Hi guys, I’m okay, standing in the trailer today before the race started and my shoulder came out of the socket. Not sure how or why, gonna take the rest of the weekend off and see what the doctor says on Monday.

As stated in the team’s original post, Scelzi and the KCP Racing No. 18 team still plan on being back at the track during the #LetsRaceTwo weekend at Eldora Speedway in May.
Scelzi already has two wins in World of Outlaws competition this season and sits at 10th in series points standings right now.
Always Race Day has updated entry lists for both the sprint cars and late models at Bristol.
