A former Formula 1 champion is headed to NASCAR, at least for one race this summer in the NASCAR Cup Series.

TrackHouse Racing announced Thursday that Kimi Raikkonen, a 2007 F1 title winner and fan favorite with the tour, would be behind the wheel of the No. 91, third-car entry for one race this year.

Raikkonen will compete at Watkins Glen International during the NASCAR Cup Series’ August 21 race at the track for Justin Marks’ team.

Marks is looking to put together a top notch program and wants to further bridge the gap between motorsports fans from around the world.

The Watkins Glen Race will be the only event that the No. 91 car is entered in, but the team does plan on racing it more in future seasons if all goes according to plan.
