Ayrton Gennetten and Fischer Body Shop have mutually parted ways ahead of this Saturday’s delayed season opener at Knoxville Raceway.
The split came about over the last week, the driver told Always Race Day.
“The split between us and Fischers was just a timing thing,” Gennetten said. “With how last season went I think it was a big hill to climb for us, we’ve had some stuff not go our way to start the year and it’s taken a toll on all of us. It’s just part of the sport sometime and everything has its clock, it’s not ideal situation by any means for our team but it’s part of it and we will just keep working and doing what we do to be successful. It’s one of those deals where you really have to appreciate the opportunity that was given, no matter what they helped get us 410 racing and helped me make a quick impact, we did a lot of cool stuff together from winning at Knoxville, 2021 Nationals and Knoxville Raceway rookie of year, winning my first 410 show and running upfront with some of the best in the business. I’m very grateful for it but just like anything in this sport it comes to an end sooner or later.”
Although, it won’t hinder Gennetten’s chase for both Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway honors this season.
The Gravois Mills, Missouri native will continue to drive his family owned car on Saturday’s at Knoxville, and has secured a weekly ride at Huset’s to go with it.
Gennetten will drive the Jud Krull owned No. 14H this season chasing a points title at Huset’s.
“I gotta thank the guys first off with Krull’s Racing and the 14H for allowing me the opportunity to take the seat and run full time at Husets,” Gennetten said. “It’s a place I am very excited to get to and excited to work with them. We really both kinda were in unfortunate spots with our original plans for this season and my buddy Coby was actually the one who got me and Jud talking. It really just worked out and if you believe in signs there was plenty for me, when me and Fischers split I just had a seat come in from Ultrashield that wasn’t supposed to be here till June and that same day me and Jud started talking. So I took that as a sign and they also have really nice stuff and I look forward to running for them there and seeing what we have.”
Outside of weekly action, Gennetten’s plans include racing with national and regional tours as much as he can in the Midwest.
“Outside of putting our own deal back together and running Knoxville and Husets we will be running a lot of the Midwest stuff with Outlaws, All Stars, POWRi and MOWA,” Gennetten said. “I plan to try and run as much as I can with my stuff and the 14H team with maybe filling in here and there for others as well. My main goal at this time is Knoxville and Husets and I think we will have a strong package at both.”
As far as goals go, Gennetten and his team will carry the same mindset going forward.
“Our goals don’t change as a team, we still want to show up and win races for the guys who have stuck with me through thick and thin, I really have the best support group in sponsors and fans and everyone I’ve talked to asking for help, advice or leads on items have all been behind me 100%,” Gennetten said. “All of my guys and crew continue to bust their butts and my amazing sponsors continue to back me more than ever. I think I’m more confident in what we will have as a core and that willLead us to hopefully more success and positive runs and results. In the end we want to win races and be in contention for a championship come August at Knoxville Raceway.
