A week after opening the season at East Bay Raceway Park, the sun is still shining alongside the High Limit Sprint Car Series following its third race of the year.
Tyler Courtney, the aptly nicknamed ‘Sunshine’ that pilots the Clauson Marshall Racing No. 7BC, became the series’ first repeat winner of the 2024 season, picking up the win at Golden Isles Thursday.
“There were parts of the track where I felt like I could run pretty good,” Courtney said on the FloRacing broadcast after the A-Main of the preliminary event. “But if you just got your air just a little bit wrong, you lose your grip pretty quick and kind of slide and just try to backpedal it to get going back the other way as quick as I could. Obviously, I don’t know where anybody else is at on the track and I knew running behind lapped cars, I was getting pretty slow, so I had to start moving around and like I did those at the right time.”
Courtney was able to maneuver through lapped traffic to capture the win in a non-stop battle, taking the 25-lap main event.
The series returns to the track Saturday as part of the Deuces Wild doubleheader with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Fans interested in tuning in can see all of the action live on FloRacing.
