He drew the pole for the Dash and it ended up making his night.

Sheldon Haudenschild got the win at Lincoln Speedway during Thursday’s World of Outlaws Gettysburg Clash, maintaining his track position and weaving through traffic in the feature.

The victory is Haudenschild’s first win of the 2020 season, and a big one, as he is creeping his way closer to the points lead in the series.

“I snuckered Jacob (Allen) there and got by him in traffic,” Haudenschild said on DirtVision in victory lane. “Other than that he was really good. I think the cautions helped me just open my track up and (allow me) to open my laps up and just run my own race.”

Allen led the majority of the opening laps of the race, but Haudenschild was able to complete a pass that had been laps in the making.

It was tricky for the driver of the No. 17, but he’s one of the best when it comes to racing in traffic.

At the same time, Haudenschild said that the caution flags allowed him to run his car as open as he wanted it to.

“You’ve kind of got to race like they’re on you the whole time,” Haudenschild said. “Right when that caution came out, I was getting to the lappers. It’s tricky. Them guys are racing for position two-wide in the back there.”

Behind the two young drivers was a charging Logan Schuchart, who started P8 before making it up to third with a handful of laps remaining.

The late-race caution that Haudenschild was referring to came out for Danny Dietrich with two laps to go, setting up for a green-white-checkered finish.

The two Shark Racing cars traded slide jobs and passes, with Schuchart coming up in front of Allen, to land both cars on the podium at Lincoln.

The World of Outlaws will return to the track on Friday for the first night of the Championship Racing Oil Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway.
