With $25,000 on the line and a $10,000 bonus for winning three Wild West Shootout races this week, Tyler Erb was the man giving chase to Jonathan Davenport in the week’s finale at Arizona Speedway.

Erb made the pass for second off of the final yellow flag of the night, with over 15 laps to go, but it was evident that Davenport was going to be the fastest car on the track.

Davenport continued to driver away from Erb, although the white-and-green No. 1 car was picking up steam in the closing laps.

Coming to the start/finish line with five to go, Erb had been picking up 0.3 seconds per lap. He tried all that he could but he couldn’t make it to the rear of Davenport and the No. 49 went to victory once again.

This will bring some intrigue to the top end of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season as defending champion Jimmy Owens was out east racing with the World of Outlaws at the Sunshine Nationals in Volusia.

There’s no telling how dominant Davenport and Erb will be this year on different tracks, but for what it’s worth, both of them got off to hot starts over the past 10 days.

Ricky Thornton Jr. was the only one to beat either of them this week, and he rounded out the podium in the dessert.

The LODLMS is scheduled to kick off on Friday at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Florida.
