Jason Sides is doubling down.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series veteran announced today that he would be partnering with Rico Abreu for the 2021 season.
The cars and team will look the same to fans on the outside, but behind the scenes, Abreu will be a co-owner and bring in some resources that will give Sides a push during the year.
“I just want to make sure Jason is in a good spot to compete and keep up with the Outlaws,” Abreu said in a press release. “I’m doing this for him. We’re gonna do what we can to make him better in 2021. I really want to see that 7S back in victory lane!”
It’s been five years since Sides was last in victory lane with the Outlaws, but with more than 1,000 races under his belt in his career, there is no doubt that Sides will know what to do with the revamped lineup.
Sides is the latest driver that Abreu has joined forces with, as he helped out Jac Haudenschild by giving him a ride for a partial schedule this upcoming season as well.
“I’m excited to have Rico team up with Sides Motorsports as we continue to run with the World of Outlaws this year,” Sides said in the release. “I think we can achieve many goals together as our team takes the next step.”
Fans will get their first look at the new team as well as all of the others when the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series kicks off its season on Friday, February 5. The action, as always, can be seen live on DirtVision.
