Sheldon Haudenschild had it all but taken care of during the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars weekend opening race at Eldora on Saturday, but a restart gave way to his competition.

Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks took advantage of an accident on track to close the gap with Haudenschild, and once the green flag flew he never looked back.

The driver, back in his own Brent Marks Racing car, parked it in victory lane during the first of two World of Outlaws races that will take place at Eldora on the night.

“I just knew I had to get him on that restart, and just do everything I could,” Marks said on DirtVision. “This is awesome to get my first Outlaw win in a while. My last one was the National Open, so to stand here… it feels good.”

One of the accidents took out a number of drivers including Jac Haudenschild and Brock Zearfoss. Justin Peck and Brad Sweet both had damage but stayed in the race.

Meanwhile, Marks would go on to get the win over the No. 17 car that ended up being light on the scales after the race. What could go wrong for Haudenschild did, ever since the caution flag flew before the crucial restart.

Logan Schuchart finished in ninth after making contact with Aaron Reutzel and getting a flat right-rear tire from the wall.

Both drivers, however, made up ground in the points standings with Sweet finishing so far back.

The field will go back tonight, after about an hour of intermission to work on the track, to run the second show of the evening. All of the World of Outlaws action, as always can be seen on DirtVision.
