The tire shortage that’s being felt around the dirt late model industry claimed a pair of races set for the 2021 World of Outlaws Late Model schedule today.

The series was set to visit ‘The Rev’ next week for back-to-back race days at the Monroe, Louisiana track, but has opted to postpone each of them to the 2022 season at a date that is to be determined.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series also added Senoia Raceway to the schedule, set for October 2 – the day following the Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway.

“Due to tire shortages, World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series and track officials have postponed the Sept. 24-25 event at The Rev to 2022. Officials did not want to position teams and the speedway in a manner that couldn’t put on a quality racing program due to an industry-wide lack of tire production.”

The series noted that tickets purchased for the race postponed will be rolled over, and fans that aren’t able to attend can request a refund once the date has been announced.

The move leaves just four race days remaining on the series schedule with the Mike Duvall Memorial on October 1, the visit to Senoia on October 2, and the World Finals at Charlotte set for November 4-6 (one day of qualifying, two days of racing).

Brandon Sheppard is the current series points leader, with a 180-point lead over Chris Madden in the series points standings.

With a presumed 60-point gap between P1 and P30 at any given race, Sheppard will soon clinch his fourth career World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship. The mark ties Josh Richards as Sheppard joins him in the club of the only two drivers to capture four titles with the series.
