The 2021 World of Outlaws season will come to a close this weekend in Charlotte, but the series released its slate for 2022 on Monday afternoon.
Opening on February 10 at Volusia, the tour will run more than 80 race days through November 5 at Charlotte. The series champion will win $200,000 and the tour will pay out money to the top 20 in the standings at the end of the season.
“The strength of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and our devotion to the Series was showcased in 2020 by overcoming the pandemic,” World of Outlaws CEO Brian Carter said. “Then, we took off running in 2021 with the return of big events and the increase in purses throughout the year. There are a lot of new and exciting things in store for drivers and fans alike in 2022 that we’ve been looking forward to for a while.”
The schedule is highlighted by a change in the date for the annual Jackson Nationals. The popular, Minnesota event will move from its June date to the week following the 61st Knoxville Nationals. It will expand the month of money by yet another week.
Taking its date on the schedule will be the popular Huset’s Speedway, which will debut a new major event that is being added to the schedule. The three-day show will be tabbed as the Huset’s High Bank Nationals, awarding $100,000 to the winner.
Following its opening weekend, the series will take one weekend off before heading to Magnolia to try an event that was postponed in 2021. It is the only scheduled off-weekend on the entirety of the schedule.
The tour will start heading west following a show at ‘The Rev’ with a pair of races at Cotton Bowl before the return of the California swing hits in the spring. California fans will get a healthy helping of racing for two weeks in March.
In April, the Outlaws will return – with their late model brethren – to Bristol Motor Speedway for another pair of days on the dirt at the Last Great Colosseum.
As for the state of Pennsylvania, Lernerville Speedway did not appear on the slate. The track recently had its late model crown jewel race moved from the World of Outlaws brand to the Lucas Dirt tour’s, which could explain why the sprint cars will not head there this year.
On top of the new additions and new tracks, Eldora Speedway will see the return of the Historical Big 1 that will also pay $100,000 to its winner during a four-night Kings Royal week.
