17-year old Connor Zilisch on pole for NASCAR Trucks race at COTA
Driver Connor Zilisch talks with the during media during IMSA Media Day at Daytona International Speedway, Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024.

A 17-year old driver in Connor Zilisch will lead the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field to the green flag on Saturday in the series’ race at Circuit of the Americas.

The young Charlotte native put the Spire Motorsports No. 7 truck into the top spot, while setting the Circuit of Americas track record (NASCAR) during the Friday qualifying session.

Zilisch is a development driver for TrackHouse Racing, which put him into a multitude of different series and vehicles as he progresses through the ranks in his young career.

He was part of race-winning teams at both the Rolex 24 and also at the 12 hours of Sebring earlier this month.

As part of his deal with TrackHouse, Zilisch is slated to drive for Pinnacle Motorsports in the ARCA East Series this season, which is hosting its season opener at Five Flags Speedway on Saturday night.

Zilisch is set to fly from COTA to make it to Pensacola on Saturday to complete the doubleheader – but first, he’ll start from the pole in his NASCAR Truck Series debut (Sat. 1:30 p.m. ET Fox Sports 1).
