There has never been a rookie driving the Team Penske No. 2 car in the Cup Series, but Austin Cindric is the exception to that stat.
On Sunday, Cindric was again the exception, becoming the first rookie to ever win the the Daytona 500 in the iconic car.
Coming to the finish line, Ryan Blaney had a run to the front, and Cindric nearly got turned, but the young gun and Rookie of the Year contender was able to stave off Bubba Wallace and capture his first win in the Great American Race.

Denny Hamlin was the favorite in the race, but was taken out early on in the day when Brad Keselowski triggered a multi-car accident.
It saw Harrison Burton flip as well, and took both the No. 21 and Hamlin’s No. 11 out of the race.
