Bubba Wallace is going to victory lane.
After putting his No. 23 car out front at Talladega during Monday’s delayed YellaWood 500 at the superspeedway, the driver with all of the eyes on him over the past year is going to get to celebrate.
Rain moved the race to Monday afternoon and then ended up shortening the event as water poured down on the Alabama race track, giving Wallace the win since the race had moved past halfway.
The win is Wallace’s first in a premier NASCAR division since he won the only Truck Series race that he started in 2017 at Michigan. It also comes at the track that drivers and crew members stood with him during the rope incident a year ago.
While Wallace is celebrating, the rest of the playoff drivers will go to look at their situations for weeks ahead.
William Byron and Alex Bowman – whom both wrecked during the race – will be looking at must-win situations next weekend at the Roval.
Kyle Larson’s issues on track will bring him closer to the cutoff, but his cushion will give him some room.

Next week’s cutoff race at The Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 10 and set to start at 1:00 p.m. CT on NBC.
