Austin Cindric earned himself a NASCAR Xfinity Series championship last time he was on the track in his Team Penske car.

On Saturday night at Daytona, he was able to do it again.

The 22-year old won six races over the course of last season and added another to his trophy case at Daytona, one night before he will start in his first career Daytona 500 in a Team Penske race car.

Behind Cindric was Grimes, IA native Brett Moffitt.

The Our Motorsports crew brought a surprisingly stellar race car that held one of the fastest laps of the entire race nearly averaging 195 miles per hour.

Moffitt was an aggressive pusher throughout the race, and for a split second it looked like he would be sitting in victory lane, had the cards played out correctly in front of him.

Moffitt and the Burton’s that finished behind him were fast throughout the race, but were prospered through a big wreck that took out a few of the big names that were running near the front.

Iowan Landon Cassill was able to avoid that wreck, but like Michael Annett, was caught up in an accident.

The series will return to Daytona next week as they take on the Daytona Road Course on Saturday, February 20 on Fox Sports 1.
