The 2021-22 silly season has the potential to be one of the craziest we’ve seen in a long time, but one domino fell on Monday morning as Joe Gibbs Racing has renewed Denny Hamlin‘s contract.

The terms of the deal were not released, however it comes as no surprise.

Hamlin is one of the best drivers in the series and has captured 13 wins over the past two years – the most in any stretch of that length in the entirety of his career.

Hamlin’s primary sponsor, FedEx, has also been extended by the team.

“The relationship between FedEx and our organization has been a tremendous success story in so many ways and we’re excited that FedEx will continue to support Denny and our No. 11 team,” Joe Gibbs said in a release. “Denny continues to perform at the top of our sport and our goal is to continue to position him and FedEx to win a championship.”

It’s no secret that Hamlin will also be helping lead the likes of Bubba Wallace in his and Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing venture for the first time during the 2021 season, but he put any wild rumors of running his own second car to rest Monday.

“I’m so fortunate to have the support of FedEx behind me throughout my career,” Hamlin said the aforementioned release. “I take a tremendous amount of pride in having the opportunity to represent them not only on the racetrack, but also in the community through the countless programs they have supported for the better part of these past two decades.”

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season will kick off with the Busch Clash on Tuesday at the Daytona Road Course, with the Speedweek leading up to the 2021 Daytona 500 on February 14.
