The defending champ is back at it, just casually winning things again.
Kyle Larson earned the pole position for the 2022 Daytona 500 on Wednesday night, completing the best lap of any driver in the 10-car, final round runs.
He’ll start directly next to his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Alex Bowman, who will be starting the Great American Race from the front row for the fifth-straight year – a race record.
The rest of the 40-car starting lineup will be determined by Thursday’s duels.
Aside from the front row, the only other thing that was clinched was Jacques Villeneuve and Noah Gragson clinching spots in Sunday’s race on speed in single car runs.
Two more open teams will qualify for the race on Thursday, by being the highest finishing open team in their respective duel. Of the eight open teams competing, four will qualify for the race in total to set the field.
