NASCAR has announced that it will ban the last-ditch effort move that Ross Chastain used to qualify for the 2022 Championship 4 at Martinsville Speedway.
NASCAR categorizes it under an existing rule, which states the move is ‘deemed to compromise the safety of an event.’

The move soared around social media at the time, and drew impressions from drivers during the postrace show that day.
Notably, Kyle Larson wasn’t a fan of the move at the time – and is words about it even drew some negative reviews.
Regardless, NASCAR announced the decision on Tuesday, along with another slew of rule changes set for 2023.
