The USAC Silver Crown will be attempting to start its 2021 season for a third-straight race when the teams take to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis on Friday.
The series lost each of its past two previously scheduled events in Thursday’s Sumar Classic at Terre Haute as well as the since postponed Rich Vogler Classic at Winchester (July 22).
The tour is hoping to maintain its scheduled 12 races for the full season, but the first time these cars hit the track in competition will be Friday with some company.
Some of USAC’s Midget division will be joining the series for a non-points event, alongside IndyCar’s Indy Pro 2000 (Double A) and USF 2000 (Single A). The four divisions will each qualify in their traditional formats to cap off the night with four Carb Night Classic feature races.
Justin Grant – who will be pulling double duty between Silver Crown and the midgets – comes in as the defending champion with the series that will main event the evening.
Grant didn’t capture a win during the entirety of the 2020 season, but left with the big trophy at the end of the year.
He’ll join veterans like Thomas Meseraull – a USAC Midget winner this season – and Kody Swanson – a five-time USAC Silver Crown champion – at the track on Friday for the event.

As for the pair of IndyCar ladder series races, the fields each feature a successful three-time winner on the season so far.
Yuven Sundaramoorthy leads the way in the lower end of the USF 2000’s while Christian Rasmussen tries to turns wins into points racing.
Action at the track is scheduled to start at or around 2:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on FloRacing. The full schedule can be seen below.
