Tony Stewart will make his NHRA drag racing debut this weekend during the NHRA Nevada Nationals being held in Las Vegas.

The longtime NASCAR star, Eldora Speedway and drag racing team owner is racing in a top alcohol dragster – a level below the popular top fuel series in the sport.

Stewart, who is married to NHRA star Leah Pruett, received his top fuel license and is able to compete at that level if he wants, but opted to start at top alcohol as an entry point according to a report from the Associated Press.

McPhillips Racing is officially fielding the car that Stewart will drive with sponsorship coming from Mobil 1. He is also guaranteed four passes on the race track with the regular NHRA qualifying format.

The longtime racing name has won three NASCAR championships, an IndyCar title, IROC and SRX (which he owns, too) titles, Chili Bowl winner and USAC Triple Crown champion. It’s hard to find something Stewart hasn’t done.

However, this week in the NHRA’s penultimate weekend of the season, Stewart will do just that.

Fox Sports 1 will have TV coverage of the race weekend beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT on Sunday, October 30.
