Saturday, January 7 marks the first national, dirt late model race of the season as the six-night Wild West Shootout kicks off at Vado Speedway Park.

The event serves as a preseason race to the national points tours that kick off later this month, and will feature six nights of racing over nine days at the track.

Jonathan Davenport, who topped the earnings charts with more than $2 million in earnings last season, will race in the event as well as 2021 NASCAR champion Kyle Larson.

Brandon Sheppard, the four-time World of Outlaws champion, is returning to the series this year and kicking off his 2023 season with his new Longhorn Chassis. Bobby Pierce will be debuting his move to Longhorn in the race, as well.

It’s the same chassis that Larson, Davenport, Mike Marlar and other top teams are using with a plethora of success in dirt late model racing.

Meanwhile, Ricky Weiss continues to find good runs in his own Sniper Chassis, which launched just a year ago.

The six nights of racing will feature $10,000 payouts to its winners during the first five nights and a $25,000 prize for the Sunday, January 15 finale. If a driver can win four of the six races, they will receive a $25,000 bonus. For five wins in six races, that jumps to $100,000 and a clean sweep garners $300,000.

The entire event can be seen live on FloRacing with hot laps scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT.
