We’re nine races into the World of Outlaws Sprint Car season, and no one is having a better year than Brad Sweet.
The two-time and defending champion has grabbed three wins already this year, including last weekend’s Jason Johnson Classic at Lake Ozark Speedway.
The series heads to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 this week for its 10th and 11th races of the year as part of its swing through the Midwest that replaced the Western swing.
There’s a plentiful amount of drivers that could take the crown at the famed short track in Pevely, Missouri, but Sweet’s odds to take one of the two are high enough.
The NAPA Auto Parts 49 has captured a win at the track in both 2019 and 2020 and is on a roll coming into the weekend.
Sweet has notched six straight podium finishes with the Outlaws, one race shy of his record of seven straight. Don’t be shocked to see him standing in victory lane again this weekend.
While Sweet has been unable to avoid the the top three recently, Logan Schuchart – who is chasing Sweet in the points standings – has been the only driver on tour to avoid a poor finish this year.
The driver of the 1S is a perfect 9-for-9 on top 10 finishes and can keep the streak going this weekend. Schuchart, however, hasn’t won at I-55 since 2018.
Sheldon Haudenschild is always a name to watch when the Outlaws head to Missouri, though.
The young gun won last year’s Night Before the Ironman as well as the 2019 55-lap shootout that takes place the weekend before the Knoxville Nationals.
If there’s anyone that can tame the race track, Haudenschild is one to do it.
Lastly, as deep as the Outlaws are into the 2021 schedule, Donny Schatz is still looking for his 300th-career series victory.
Schatz was two laps away earlier this year at Volusia Speedway Park, but a car malfunction kept him from reaching the milestone.
All of the action this weekend can be seen over live stream, as always, broadcasted by DirtVision.com.
