Early on in Friday’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car Feature, the lead was a constant battle between Logan Schuchart and Carson Macedo. The NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 car was nowhere to be found.

But, give it 25 or 30 laps and defending series champion Brad Sweet was back up to the front to take his spot in victory lane.

Sweet basically owns that circle at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin. He’s found his way to victory lane there in each of the past two World of Outlaws features at the track and also earned himself a win there during the 2018 season.

With the victory, Sweet and the 49 team will take home a $20,000 check – the second largest winners total of the season on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car tour.

Before Sweet made his charge to the front, it was Schuchart that was sticking his nose past Macedo.

Schuchart got by the No. 2 for a brief time, even leading a lap on his route to another top five finish, but Macedo was strong enough to hold him off.

After the race, Schuchart tweeted that the falloff in the back half that caused him to finish a few more spots back was due to that of a right-rear tire going down.

Sweet began to make his charge and got by Schuchart before David Gravel threatened to make it a four-car race.

Gravel just didn’t have the speed to maintain at a Cedar Lake track that continued to move around all night. Despite missing a feature race in February to participate in the ARCA Menards Series at Daytona, the driver of the No. 41 car is still seventh in points.

Sweet took the lead on lap 24 and didn’t look back, leading all 11 of the final laps to earn his series leading sixth win of the year.

Kerry Madsen made a strong push at the end of the night to get up to P2 from fifth, and had he had another five or 10 laps to chase down the Big Cat, we would have seen another great battle.

Nonetheless, the Outlaws put up one of the best races of the season the night after an elimination showdown didn’t go over well with fans.

Both the Sprint Car and Late Model tours will return to the track at Cedar Lake on Saturday for a show that mirrored Friday Night. $20,000 in prize money will be up for grabs again and the feature races will be televised by CBSSN.

The action will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT – because of the TV complications – on DirtVision.com.
