Well. It happened again.

Brad Sweet missed the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash for Saturday Night’s Independence Day Spectacular World of Outlaws feature, but was still able to pace through the field to win the feature.

It took the No. 49 NAPA Auto Parts car nearly the entirety of the 35-lap event to race his way to the front, but of course Sweet made it look easy in the end.

The World of Outlaws points leader extended his lead on Saturday, earning his seventh win of the 2020 season as well his second of the weekend in two trips to Cedar Lake Speedway.

Sweet started the race from the ninth position and slowly moved forward.

He got by Parker Price-Miller, Carson Macedo and Ian Madsen early in the race before the second caution flag came out.

Logan Schuchart was running in fifth before succumbing to the pit area due to a flat, right-rear tire.

Sweet would take advantage and eventually move into the fourth spot after passing Sheldon Haudenschild.

The California native found himself in fourth during the final caution flag with nine laps to go.

He had some trouble getting by Kraig Kinser for third place, but managed to make it work and advance to second over Kerry Madsen in the same lap.

After that, it was all him and David Gravel – two of the best in the nation in these cars.

Sweet took to the bottom, ate up a big chunk of Gravel’s lead he had built, and passed the 41 car with just a few laps remaining.

No matter how many times Brad Sweet takes a checkered, it seems to get more entertaining. Saturday showed just that and the fans watching on CBSSN got to see it all live.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car tour will return to the track next week when the tour visits 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa on Friday night. Always Race Day will have full coverage of the event.
