As Brent Marks stared down the tail tank of the No. 1A Shark Racing sprint car coming to the restart with two laps to go in Saturday’s Morgan Cup A-Main, a plethora of chaos was just beginning to make itself known.

Jacob Allen had held the lead for 28 laps of the main event, and very well could have picked up his second win in a row with the series when a yellow flag came out. The Shark Racing driver would go for the restart to close out the race, but that’s when it happened.

Allen’s car didn’t fire off quite right on the stint. He ran out of fuel, eventually pulling into the work area and seeing a win turn itself into a P16 finish.

Instead, it was Marks capturing his second win of the season with the series and putting the Pennsylvania Posse on the scoreboard for the season-long rivalry.

“I tried to save as much (fuel) as I could under the yellows and stay totally off of the throttle and just lean the thing out,” Marks said on DirtVision. “I was running out towards the end of the Dash so I was worried about that with how fast the pace was.”

Marks also captured the DuraMAX Drydene Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in April collecting $20,000 that night and another $17,000 on Saturday.

It’s his first career Morgan Cup victory, completing the trifecta of winning the trio of Williams Grove events the series runs annually.

“This car was awesome tonight,” Marks said. “We were fast all night long and the guys worked their butts off. The track turned out to be pretty decent after the rain storm.”

Carson Macedo crossed the line in second, and it looked as though the No. 41 Jason Johnson Racing team had secured the World of Outlaws points lead.

However, Macedo’s car failed to meet the minimum weight requirement during post-race technical inspection, resulting essentially in a DNF.

Instead of being four points ahead of Brad Sweet in the standings, Macedo now sits in third place, 42 points back in what turns into being a 46-point difference.

Sweet retains the points lead as the Outlaws leave Pennsylvania, 24 points ahead of David Gravel in the lead.

The series returns to action on Tuesday, May 17 as it heads to Bridgeport Motorsports Park for the 20th race of the young season. For fans interested in watching, the event will be streamed live on DirtVision.
