Carson Macedo transported to Knoxville hospital after accident

Carson Macedo was involved in an accident at Knoxville Raceway during Saturday’s World of Outlaws A-Main, in which his car caught fire upon landing on the race track.

Update – Sunday, June 11, Carson Macedo was released from the Knoxville Hospital:

Carson Macedo was transported to a local area hospital following an incident during tonight’s World of Outlaws event at the Knoxville Raceway. He did walk to the ambulance with assistance. We will keep you all updated when updates become available

Upon the red flag waving, World of Outlaws drivers Brad Sweet, Gio Scelzi, and Spencer Bayston exited their vehicles in an attempt to help in removing Macedo from the car.

Carson Macedo's car burst into flames and he was unsable to unlatch his seat belts.

Sweet was yelling Macedo’s name trying to wake up the driver, who was knocked out in the accident.

Just spoke to Kasey Kahne. He said Brad was yelling Carson's name for a period of time trying to wake him up.
