David Gravel takes Night 1 at Charlotte

David Gravel takes Night 1 at Charlotte
David Gravel celebrates after winning night 1 of the Huset's 50.

David Gravel’s team owner already owns two World of Outlaws race tracks, but he might as well own The Dirt Track at Charlotte himself.

The Watertown, Connecticut native brought home his fourth win at Charlotte in the last five World of Outlaws races ran at the track that ends the World of Outlaws season.

“Yeah the track was good,” Gravel told DirtVision. “That curve was gnarly in one and two. Definitely packed some mud in the wheels. I didn’t want to make a mistake (late in the race).”

The victory is Gravel’s 11th on the season, tying him with Carson Macedo for the second most in the series behind Brad Sweet – who has 16 going into Saturday’s season finale.

That’s just the cap on an impressive first season for the veteran with Big Game Motorsports.

“It’s been a really good first season,” Gravel said on DirtVision. “I’m excited for next year and I’ve got to thank Tod Quiring. I hadn’t sealed second in points so I wanted to make sure we did that tonight, now we’ll just go out tomorrow night and have some fun.”

Saturday’s action has been pushed up to Noon CT, and again will be on DirtVision.

Kerry Madsen made a last lap pass on Brian Brown to take second as the pair rounded out the podium.

Logan Schuchart was leading with 12 laps to go, but had to make a trip to pit road under caution, surrendering the lead.
