Donny Schatz earns milestone victory winning Bike Week Jamboree at Volusia

Donny Schatz returned to victory lane Monday during the World of Outlaws Bike Week Jamboree at Volusia Speedway Park, marking his 500th-career victory in a sprint car.

The 10-time World of Outlaws champion inherited the lead after Buddy Kofoid exploded a left-rear tire just past the halfway mark of the race.

“The pace there was – I don’t know that I can remember ever running a car that hard for that long,” Schatz said on the DirtVision broadcast. “It was brutal. It’s hard on tires. It’s hard on wheels. It’s hard on everything, but we kind of capitalized on the misfortune of the 83. We were getting to the point where we were having a lot of wheel spin – on the right side, (when) you’re up against something, the left side is the one that spins and that’s generally where a problem happens. And obviously that’s what happened there.”

Kofoid’s Roth Motorsports crew was unable to get the car back on track in time to restart, resulting in his P16 finish.

Jacob Allen was relegated to a P15 result after he shredded his own left-rear tire with two laps remaining in the A-Main, as well. Brock Zearfoss was unable to start the race with engine issues.

The World of Outlaws will return to the track this weekend for the Cowtown Classic – a Friday-Saturday doubleheader at Kennedale Speedway Park. As always, all of the series action can be seen live on DirtVision.
