There might not be anyone having a better start to the racing season than Donny Schatz has had so far this year.
Old 10-time is headed in the right direction for 11.
On Tuesday night, Schatz continued his hot start to the season, earning his second win in six starts this year ahead of the World of Outlaws opener on Friday.
For the newbies, Schatz’ wins won’t count towards his overall point total with the World of Outlaws because these were technically Ollie’s All Star Circuit of Champions races.
It’s basically the pre-season, since the ASCoC doesn’t count the Speedweek for series points.
Although, no one’s complaining about wins. It will just give the Tony Stewart Racing team some extra momentum going into the year.
Behind Schatz were both of the Madsen brothers, with Ian Madsen taking second and Kerry Madsen earning the hard charger in third.
Both are in new spots for the 2021 season and have had nothing to be ashamed about at the front end of the year.
Tyler Courtney and Gio Scelzi rounded out the top five, and each of them have been impressing early in their own regards.
Courtney is running his first full-time winged sprint car season and Scelzi is the posterboy for Toyota Racing Development’s new engine this year.
The field will try and continue the success as the ASCoC tour heads over to Volusia for a pair of nights at the DIRTCar Nationals on Wednesday and Thursday. Then the World of Outlaws action kicks off on Friday night.
