It’s been a quiet year for racing in Rossburg, Ohio ever since the COVID-19 Pandemic took shape.
The famed Eldora Speedway has seen a large bulk of its 2020 schedule postponed or canceled throughout the year, but that will change this week as the track prepares to host a large contingent of talented sprint car teams.
The event is being tabbed as the Governor’s Reign and will pay $52,000 to the Wednesday-night finale winner of the two-day show.
Even though it is being raced under the banner of the All-Star Circuit of Champions tour, it will bring drivers from around the nation thanks to its unique set of dates.
Along with the full set of ASCoC drivers, nearly all of the full time World of Outlaws racers are on the entry list as well.
The list includes one of Ohio’s best racers in Cap Henry – who has won as much as anyone this season, if you take out Kyle Larson who’s also competing.
USAC Sprint Car star Tyler Courtney will once again throw a wing on his rig and continue the successful year he has had running in some of these races.
One of the top up and coming youngsters in Buddy Kofoid is even throwing a wing on his car to race with these guys this weekend. Everyone who is anyone is making the trip to Eldora.
Maybe the most intriguing storyline comes with the No. 83 car, though.
The famous Roth Motorsports entry is seeing a driver change due to Daryn Pittman retiring from full time competition at the end of the season.
This means that Spencer Bayston will see his first race behind the wheel this week at Eldora, allowing him to break the ice at the end of this season to get ready for a potential first full time year with the team.
