Any time the World of Outlaws Sprint Car tour goes back to its regular Missouri tracks, Sheldon Haudenschild is a driver to watch.
After becoming the first repeat winner on tour this season, that connotation of the young driver becomes even more true.
Haudenschild will take his No. 17 NOS Energy Drink car to the Show-Me State as the defending winner at US-36 Raceway – where the tour runs on Friday. That goes without even mentioning his dominance at Pevely, which will host a doubleheader next weekend.
Him and his team have won and secured a top five finish in each of the past two weekends with the tour, and there’s a good chance that he’ll see similar success in the near future.
That’s not to say he won’t have any competition. The Outlaws have already shown this year that the tour is as deep as its ever been.
Saturday night, they travel to Lake Ozark Speedway for the Jason Johnson Classic, so there’s no doubting that Carson Macedo will go-for-broke to give his No. 41 team a good finish.
Brad Sweet enters the weekend as the World of Outlaws points leader and will be looking for his second straight win on Friday, as he picked up a W on Saturday at Cotton Bowl Speedway.
He holds a 24-point lead on Logan Schuchart as well as 38-point leads over 2019 Jason Johnson Classic champ David Gravel and Donny Schatz, who is still chasing his 300th win with the series.
All of these heavy hitters will pile into Missouri the next two weekends with hopes of launching some momentum as Bristol approaches at the end of next month.
