A former Knoxville Raceway track champion will be on the move looking for a ride following this weekend.
KCP Racing and Ian Madsen announced today through Petersen Media that they would be parting ways, effective immediately.
“We thank Ian Madsen for everything he has done for us for that last 7+ seasons,” Team Owner Matt Barbara said in a press release. “It was not a decision that we took lightly. Ian has been our only driver since the inception of the team, and we wish him all the best. We will not be in action this weekend, and our search for a new driver is currently underway.”
As the only driver to the KCP racing entry, Madsen finished with 21 top 10’s in 30 feature races this season.
There is no word as to why this came today nor why the move was made, however KCP did confirm that they will not be racing this weekend until they find a new driver.
“Again, I really want to reiterate how tough of a day this really is,” Barbara added. “We do wish Ian nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
The Knoxville Championship Cup Series season continues on Saturday night at the famed half-mile speedway. Always Race Day will have live coverage from the track and more updates as this story develops.
