By Nic Meyer:
After coming so close so many times, Jacob Allen was finally able to capture his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win.
Allen started second in the feature from Dodge City. Tim Kaeding led the field to green for the feature event, as Allen started second. Allen quickly took the lead and never looked back.
After a series of orange cone cautions, things finally settled down about halfway through the race as the Shark Racing 1a car had to work to hold off the 1s of Logan Schuchart.
Donny Schatz attempted to make it a three-way battle for first, but was never able to put the pressure on.
After clearing the scales, Allen climbed the back of his car and waved the checkered flag that seemed to elude him for so long.
“I was just being cool and just racing my race,” Allen said, as emotions began to overwhelm him. “To finally win a freaking race after all this time, I mean, so much has gone into it, like being so close to just giving up and not wanting to do it, but to just come back this year and take a whole new look on everything and be positive and be cool about it. Finally this has paid off.”
The World of Outlaws will be back on Saturday night from Dodge City Raceway Park where Jacob Allen will look for his first weekend swept. Action begins around 7:00pm central time.
