The World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year leader got himself a second win.
James McFadden delivered another victory to the Kasey Kahne Racing stable on Friday night at Skagit Speedway, taking Night 1 of the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals in a 30-lap race.
“We’ve been close and we’ve needed it,” McFadden said on DirtVision. We’ve had a lot of speed throughout (nights), we just haven’t put it all together. Tonight we put it all together and now we’re standing in victory lane.
McFadden’s last win came at Kokomo Speedway back in April in one of his first starts of the season.
Now, after Aaron Reutzel dropped off of the tour after his suspension, he’s basically locked up the Rookie of the Year award.
“I’m pumped for the Karavan Trailers car,” McFadden said. “It’s obviously Kasey (Kahne’s) home state. It feels great.”
Sheldon Haudenschild ran in the runner-up position while David Gravel rounded out the podium.
Gravel’s third-place finish trimmed his points deficit from 120 to 116, a slim gain on points leader and defending champion Brad Sweet, who came from P10 to grab a top 5 result and go home with the KSE Hard Charger award.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to the track on Saturday for the second night of the 2021 Skagit Nationals leading into Sunday’s finale race. As always, all of the action can be seen on DirtVision.
