The racing surface at Brownstown Speedway was making things difficult for drivers to pass on the track Wednesday, that is unless your name was Jonathan Davenport.
In the FloRacing Night in America’s second feature of the season, Davenport took home the win by over five seconds, working his way through lapped cars with ease.
“Our car felt pretty good there,” Davenport said on the FloRacing broadcast. “I knew if I could just catch the middle and slide a little bit better I’d be alright… we had a good year last year, but I think we’re primed to have a better one this year.”
The win comes in the second race for the series this week, with Tuesday night hosting the season opener at Eldora.
Davenport will take home $22,000 for winning this one – the winner’s purse for every FloRacing Night in America event.
Bobby Pierce took the runner-up spot in the race, ahead of Mike Marlar, Brandon Overton and Kyle Larson who rounded out the top five.
NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe was set to make his super late model debut, but didn’t start the B-Main that he would have needed to transfer into the main event.
The series will be off next week, but will return to the track May 11 for a date at Spoon River. As always, the action can all be seen live on FloRacing.
