It’s been a couple of weeks of podiums and W’s for Jonathan Davenport, and it’s not just because the World of Outlaws were in Wisconsin this evening.
The late model veteran took the No. 49 car back to victory lane on Friday with the World of Outlaws in Night 2 of the Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway.
“I think we’ve been good since we unloaded,” Davenport said during his victory lane interview on DirtVision. “We had a few problems yesterday that kind of put us behind the 8-ball. We just kind of stuck to our guns and we’ve hit on something lately.”
Davenport came from the eighth position to streak to the front, being one of the biggest movers, and capture his second win of the season with the series.
It comes one night before the $50,000 finale for the Dairyland Showdown, which takes place on Saturday.
“This place is cool, for sure,” Davenport said. “You can move around a lot. You can kind of just move and see where you want to be. ”
Bobby Pierce took the runner-up spot after jumping from fifth-to-second in the closing laps and making progress to push past Tyler Erb.
The driver of the No. 32, who won on Thursday, goes into the finale night with back-to-back podiums in under him.
“We’re pretty happy with it,” Pierce said on DirtVision. “I’m glad we charged there at the end. We were just another car there for a minute, riding around in fifth. I kind of figured out the top (groove of the race track) at the end. All in all, a first and a second – we’re really happy with that. I know tonight, the track was kind of dry. Longer race tomorrow, I think it’ll be a bit wet to start. Maybe we can get up there for a win.”
The series will take to the track on Saturday afternoon to conclude the three-day event with the aforementioned $50,000 race to end the weekend. DirtVision will have the broadcast.
