Kerry Madsen started from the pole position and kept it his No. 2 car there all night.

The Saint Mary’s, New South Wales native lead all 25 laps of the main event in Saturday’s 360 Nationals at Knoxville Raceway.

“We’ve been podiuming a ton all year ,” Madsen said. “I had to keep the faith. We’ve had good race cars.”

It meant something sweeter to Madsen, though, who has just missed victory lane all season, including last Sunday night at Huset’s.

Madsen lead a majority of the ASCoC race at the track before surrendering the lead and settling for the podium.

“Last Sunday night I think I kind of let us all down, letting Cory (Eliason) drive by us,” Madsen said. “I’m happy to win tonight though, this event especially.”

Eliason, tonight, made a drive to the front and earned a podium spot after Brian Brown‘s car slowed near the end of the race.

Brown settled for a P16 finish.

In front of Eliason, Shane Golobic ran in the second position in one of his best runs he’s ever had at Knoxville.

It just wasn’t enough to keep up with Madsen, who was a straight-away ahead by the end of the night.

“I was nervous,” Madsen said. “I think to start that race, I don’t think any one of us knew where the dominant line was. You know we’ve had such a good race car and had such a good starting position there, we finally put it around and figured out what was best.”
