In 23 starts this season, Kyle Larson has 11 wins with the World of Outlaws – the top sprint car racing tour in the United States.
This is just a small sample size of the success he and Paul Silva have had, but it’s an impressive sample nonetheless.
Larson took the victory tonight, leading all 25 laps of the first night of the Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway.
The win for Larson means the local contingent of Pennsylvania-born drivers dubbed the Pennsylvania Posse is in danger of being shutout for the season with the World of Outlaws.
If it happens, it would be the first time the feat has been accomplished since 2008, but the group has one more night – Saturday – to try and right the ship.
World of Outlaws points leader Brad Sweet finished 11th on the night after being collected in an accident early.
Luckily for him, Logan Schuchart ended the evening a spot back – in 12th – which actually extends Sweet’s points lead by two points.
Donny Schatz, meanwhile, won his heat race and finished seventh, gaining a bit of ground on Sweet and closing up the points race a bit.
The World of Outlaws return to the track on Saturday for the Nittany Showdown Finale at Port Royal. Hot laps are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT and the action can be seen on DirtVision.com.
