There were concerns ahead of the final green-white-checkered restart that Logan Schuchart may have dropped a cylinder or two from his No. 1S Shark Racing car.

However, it wouldn’t prevent him from getting his sixth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win of 2021 at the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway.

“That first restart, I thought I could really use the holes (in the track) to my advantage,” Schuchart said on DirtVision. “As soon as I went through that rut, something happened. I feel like I ripped two spark plug wires out.”

No matter, though.

After a successful finish at Eldora during Kings Royal week eluded him, Schuchart got back at The Big E, getting his third win in five races.

“I feel like (Eldora) owed us one,” Schuchart said on DirtVision. “We left, every night, feeling like we would have a chance to win. We’d get out front and something would break. We ran down Carson (Macedo during the Day After race) and caught a flat tire, so.”

Its the success now, that the team thought they would see throughout the year.

Following a second-place finish in the standings in 2020, Schuchart expected more.

“I thought it was just going to take working hard this year,” Schuchart said. “We didn’t have the summer that we wanted. “We got a new Triple X chassis that we built before the West Coast swing. This thing rolls.”

The recent success is just a glimpse of what this team showed it was capable of in 2020.

Behind Schuchart, James McFadden grabbed second with a last-lap pass on David Gravel, who rounded out the podium.

It was McFadden’s best career finish at Eldora.

“Honestly that was a lot of fun,” McFadden said. “I couldn’t stop laughing over in three and four because of how much fun that was. I felt like we had something for everyone there and we got better as the race went on. It’s a tough (track), but hats off to Logan. He’s been on fire the last few weeks.”

A little further back, Tyler Courtney took home a top five, trying to replicate the success he saw in the Kings Royal as well as the night’s earlier USAC Midget race.

Donny Schatz took fourth after leading the race for the first half of the 30 laps or so, Justin Peck took home sixth, and Wayne Johnson grabbed seventh after starting the night on the pole.

Ayrton Gennetten took home his best career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series finish on the night, taking P8 in his debut at Eldora Speedway. Qualifying third and winning his heat to qualify for the dash, the up-and-coming driver set himself up for success from the start.

The win for Schuchart moves him into a tie for fifth in the standings with Sheldon Haudenschild.

Meanwhile, Gravel gained 30 points on two-time and defending champion Brad Sweet after the No. 49 team saw two right rear tires go flat during the A-Main on the night.

With just 10 races left in the season, the World of Outlaws go east to Lernerville Speedway for the tour’s next race on Saturday night. Full, unofficial standings can be found below, and as always the action can be seen live on DirtVision.
