Lucas Dirt Late Models Wrap up Season with Larson

Lucas Dirt Late Models Wrap up Season with Larson
The Rumley No. 6 that Kyle Larson will drive.

The true outlaw is back.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will conclude this weekend with the 40th annual Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Ohio.

Kyle Larson will be in attendance.

He’s the guy that’s driven everything this year, and he’ll be making his return to the Lucas Oil tour for the first time since he won at Port Royal with the series on August 29.

Of course there will be a plethora of talent around him, but that hasn’t stopped Larson from anywhere he’s gone this season.

With a $100,000 payday awaiting the winner, things are sure to get dicey.

The only certainty through the weekend will be Jimmy Owens collecting his fourth career series championship, and his first since 2015.

Owens has collected a series best 11 wins in 46 starts through the year, and will match Earl Pearson Jr. for the most titles in the 15-year history of the tour on Saturday.

Of course, the big guns will be competing alongside a plethora of talent for one of the biggest paying dirt races in the calendar year – especially on the late model side.

World of Outlaws stars Brandon Sheppard and Ricky Weiss are expected to be racing as well as the series doesn’t return to the track until next weekend.

Sheppard is the defending champion of the event and has won it three times in the last seven years. He’ll try again this weekend.

Cars are expected to be on track for hot laps at 5:00 p.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday nights. The action can be seen on Lucas Oil Racing TV.
